2016’s “Burn The Barrel” blended whisky from Mars returns this year, this time an exclusive at Liquor Mountain.
This time around it’s using only malt whiskies — the previous release was both malt and grain. Imported malt whiskies, presumably, since they only mention that it’s “blended and bottled” by Mars Whisky. We also now have a lightly peated component.
Sounds to me like it doesn’t even spend any time in a cask at Mars Shinshu. Still, if you are a fan of Mars Whisky’s blending skills, and perhaps charred bourbon casks, it could be worth a look. TJWR gave the previous edition an 80/100.
Edition #2 is described as having a sweet nose of honey and dried fruits, but also with a hint of peatiness.
43% abv, 700ml, and (only?) available from Liquor Mountain now. 5280 yen after tax.
