Just yesterday Hokuriku-based Wakatsuru Saburomaru Distillery released “Junenmyo Half Decade” specifically for their home region, Hokuriku.
Per their announcement it contains “selected whiskies from several barrels aged over 5 years old.” Assuming it contains whisky actually distilled at the Saburomaru Distillery, that would be from the pre-crowdfunding era. This puts it in similar crowd with their other imported/blended releases like Moon Glow. Just judging by the image they’ve released, it appears quite young!
3500 yen for 700ml at 40% abv, but given they’ve said it is specifically only being sold in Hokuriku, good luck finding it elsewhere.
