Hombo Shuzo is the latest big name to announce a distillery expansion to meet rising demand for Japanese whisky. Nikkei reports that they will be investing some 1.2bio yen in the Mars Shinshu Distillery, with construction of a new 1998 square meter distillation facility and aging warehouse, as well as a Visitor Center.
The new construction is to start in May 2019 and finish in September 2020. The new facilities will reportedly bring a 10% increase in production capacity and double their 2000-cask aging capacity.
