Suntory has announced Yamazaki Mizunara 2017 Edition, and this year it’s set to drop on October 3rd. Obviously this one needs no introduction. By this point, if you haven’t heard of Yamazaki Mizunara, you probably don’t even like Japanese whisky!
The company is releasing “around” 1500 bottles of Yamazaki Mizunara 2017 Edition here in Japan, at 48% abv. 200 of those bottles will be sold via online lottery, which you can sign up for with this form until September 19, 11:59PM JST. But please note the lottery is only open to residents of Japan over 20 years old. The price is 108,000 yen, including tax. That’s roughly double the price of regular Yamazaki 18 in Japan, but no doubt you’ll get your money’s worth, whether you decide to drink it or hold on to it.
I’m not sure how it will be enforced, but Suntory has said they’ll invalidate lottery wins if it’s discovered the purchase is for resale purposes.
Suntory hasn’t announced how many bottles of this they’ll be releasing overseas. Can’t be many!
